Eadweard Muybridge was an 1800’s photographer who pioneered the studies of motion in animals. At the behest of Leland Stanford (founder of Stanford University) he used new techniques to prove that all four horse hoofs left the ground at some point when running. This series intriguingly explores the motion of cats, elk and horses.
